Ethos and Values

As a Church of England Academy, we have a distinctive character, where Christian values are promoted and modelled in all aspects of school life and underpin all that we do.

Helme is part of Christ the King Parish in Meltham and our Chair of Governors is Rev. Dennis Shields, who currently leads the church services. he is a regualr visitor to school-leading collective workship and visiting classes. 

We believe it is the role of the school to work with parents to nurture and develop the 'whole child', by helping our pupils to thrive academically, emotionally, spiritually and physically to enable them to achieve their full potential. In keeping with our Christian ethos, we foster respect for individuals and their differences, and through this we uphold the British Values of democracy, rule of law, respect ad understanding for all families, individual liberty and mutual respect. These values are also taught through our curriculum in all key stages. 


Helme has also adopted the Olympic and Paralympic values, which are in line with both our Christian and British values. We are building foundations for the future and develop all rounded children who show:
